Happy Birthday, Brothah and Sistah!

Yo ma men!! Sup?? How are ya, niggaaaah??? Okay, please excuse this awkwardness! I just need to stick to my gangstah kind of day, ya know! Hahaha. Anyway, there's a double celebration in our family whenever the 8th month of the year comes. But before I share with you how we celebrated it this year, let's have a little intro about the birthday guy and gal first.

My Brothah From Anotha Motha (August 3)
I'm the second from a brood of 4 and I'm very lucky to have the best eldest sister (Ate) and siblings in the world. But I have always dreamed of having an elder brother (Kuya), too. When I was in gradeschool, I classified my classmates with older brothers as cool kids. Ang astig kaya pag may Kuya, diba? And up to this day, I still have this huge admiration for brothers who take good care of their younger sibs. Good thing, I married a man who I can also consider my Kuya. Even though I'm 5 months older than him (Yes! I'm older than him. You may stop chuckling now.), he's much much much mature than me when it comes to how to live life. It's probably because he learned how to be independent at such a young age. His optimism and kengkoyness attested that there is really a beautiful and happy reason behind everything, even in the toughest scenario. And now I know how it feels to have a Kuya who lovingly gives you an Everything-will-be-alright-belief and an Ako-bahala-sa'yo-feeling.

My Fashionistah Sistah (August 8)
Nope. She's not a fashion model (yet!) but she surely will pass as one. I often wonder how on earth her choice of apparel, even a weird one, turns out to be "fashionmodelish" on her. Any girl who loves fashion (but fashion still doesn't find its way to loving her) will get envious when she takes a walk with another #ootd-worthy look. I had many attempts to try her wardrobe style but it just made me look like one helluva frustrated fashionistah so in the end, whether I like it or not, I'm back to my usual pants-tshirt combo. Haaay! Life. is. indeed. unfair. Hahaha! So if you bump into me with my sistah at a mall or somewhere else, let me tell you this now...I'm not her PA, okay??? Ate po niya ako!!! ATE!!!!! Hehehe.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR BROTHAH AND SISTAH!!

On The Spot: ICEPOT

My folks were actually the discoverers of this Korean dessert stall in a little corner of SM Sta. Mesa's Foodcourt. My mom, in particular, has been giving Icepot some spotlight for days and keeps on telling everyone about it. So after doing the groceries one night, we finally tried these delish treats. I got to taste all of what we ordered and they were all YUMMERS!!!! But my personal favorites are the Blueberry Waffle and Icecream with mixed fruits.

I know it's such a shame that my previous post hashed out my Pinoy pride because of Gilas Pilipinas and now I'm raving about these Korean sweets. Please forgive me, my dear Noypis. Hehehe! Our very own Halohalo is STILL THE BEST but this is just too deliciously healthy not to blog about.

Proudly Pinoy

I'm not a Basketball fanatic but this one's a different story.
Congratulations, Gilas Pilipinas!
You've made us all proud.

Looks 'Pinterest'ing!

I've been hearing about Pinterest for quite some time and been wondering what the fuss is all about. I know I may be a bit late but I installed this application on my phone just a few days ago and while I was browsing through different pins and boards, the DIY & Craft board caught my attention.

I'm a sucker for anything DIY. I was into scrapbooking in my teenybopper days and I had a few DIY projects for my own wedding but I must admit that I'm not an expert when it comes to creating stuff from scratch. Let's just say I have an eye for what's nice and what's not (I believe!). Here are a few that got me 'Pinterest'ed.

The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak

Heads-up! I'm not a food expert and I don't know much about food jargon so please don't expect this to be a foodie blogpost. It just so happens that I belong to a family who loves trying out different restaurants. So when I was given the opportunity to have gift certificates at work (as employee rewards), I checked the list of options and decided to choose The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak since we haven't tried it yet. And because it was Ken's birthday last Saturday, we finally found the perfect time to try this Japanese steak restaurant in its flagship store in Trinoma.

The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak is under the Pancake House Group and somewhat the Pinoy version of Pepper Lunch. They have this unique ordering/ask for assistance system wherein you just have to flip the chart to the "Moooove" sign if you're ready to order or if you need something and just flip it back to the "Stop" sign. I must say, the staff was very attentive. They even approached our table several times only to find out that my nieces just played with the flip charts and didn't even show any hint of annoyance. Thumbs up!

They recently introduced their 7 sauces namely Twist of Steak, Marinara Connection, Teriyaki Trippin', Gravy Kind of Love, Hottie Tomato Steak, Dippy Tartare Dream and Teri-Mayo Duo. I recommend you to try all of them to find out what best suits your taste buds.
If you're planning to visit the resto and try their sizzling steaks, do remember these simple steps: turn, mix, sizzle. I understand if you get giddy and want some photo op once your order has arrived but since the steak is served raw on the hot plate, you have to immediately turn the meat to the other side and mix it with the rice and sauce to avoid burning. Don't worry about smelling like smoke afterwards because there are big exhausts for each table.

Oooops..Nope! They don't serve Mango Bravo here. They were just nice enough to let us take in our favorite Conti's cake without any corkage fee unlike other restos.

And here's the Sizzlin' Pepper Steak mascot...este...the birthday boy. hehehe!
Happy birthday again, my love!! :)
