Willie's Angel

I just want to share the amazing talent of this sweet and bubbly lady named VERON CRUZ. Her Daddy is my Mommy's lil bro so that made her....my cousin. She was one of the contestants in Kantanong (Total Performers Category), a segment of TV5's Wil Time Big Time last night. I'm just so proud of her and I'm suuuper duuuper happy for her 'cos she fulfilled one of every performer's ultimate dreams--to show their God-given talents on TV. Willie Revillame, after seeing her ala-Beyonce performance, even said, "Yan ang total performer talaga!" and I'm pretty sure those who watched it agreed to that (including me, of course).

To watch the video, click here, select 0629wil8 (9th video) and fast forward it to 10:00. For the continuation, just select 0629wil9 (10th video).

Here are some of her covers from her Youtube account (veronnie158).

You made our clan prouder and you proved yet again, lahi tayo ng mga total performers! hehehe! So proud of you! :)

Sick Chick

Ha ha hachoooo! Sniffle! Sniffle! hachoooo! haaaay! :(

I've been sneezing and sniffling all day for almost 2 days.
And just an FYI, I'm one of those people who have a super sensitive sense of smell. I know it's a bit weird but I smell food before I eat them..I smell clothes before I wear them..I smell rooms before I enter them and so on.. But right now, I CAN'T SMELL ANYTHING!!! Is this some kind of a consequence for overusing my nose? hahaha!

But the worst part is.....I'm sick on a weekend!!!! Loooser! Olats! Boooooo!

Then I realized, instead of complaining and just babying myself, I have to do something about it. And so I thought of doing a research on some effective ways to avoid being a sickly this flu season. I got a list from femalenetwork.com. This might help us become flu-free especially now that our weather is so unpredictable. Click this link to view the full article.

Boodle Fight

Here goes the one big hapPIG family again!

For our last week's Pig Out Saturday, we did it the Filipino way. Food on banana leaves and eating with bare hands..that's simply Pinoy! But I confess, I was soooo madaya. hahaha! You'll know why in a bit.

(Apologies for the not so clear photos)

Boodle fight is not only a military style of dining but also a fun way of eating together especially if you're beach-ing. But you don't have to join the PMA or book your flights to your favorite beaches to enjoy this kind of food trip. All you need to have is your home-cooked meals, banana leaves, your clean hands (Always remember to sing Happy Birthday twice when washing your hands, okay?) and your growling tummy. But if you're feeling tamad to cook and prepare it yourself, don't worry! Many restaurants are now offering this kind of dining and one of those is Blackbeard's Seafood Island

Here's my brotha who was so game to copycat the bloke in the menu.

And here's the piggy me. 'Twas a Boodle Feast but I used spoon and fork. hahaha!

If you're asking if we enjoyed the food...just look at the photo below.

Friends For Keeps

For almost half a year, I wasn't able to see Lelel, my dear friend and bridesmaid-to-be. And because SHE MISSED US SO MUCH (hahaha! Okay, I'll admit it now...Owen and I missed her more!), finally, we had our long overdue Saturdate.

Aside from the good times we had, I wanna share my random thoughts about friends. I can say that one of the greatest challenges of friendship is distance. Despite of conflicting schedules and busy lives, you must maintain the connection from both sides. Communication, whether it's via phone, email, social networking sites or what have you, means A LOT. Don't get me wrong. I'm not pertaining to your thousands of friends on Facebook or your millions of followers on Twitter. Quality wins over Quantity in most aspects of my life. This is probably among the top on the list of clichés but I'll still say it 'cos it continues to be true: REAL FRIENDS ARE HARD TO FIND. They are those who, whether they are excited, disappointed, mad, happy, sad, in-love, brokenhearted and all the emotions (and situations) you may think of, will remain your friends. No matter how long you haven't seen each other, real friends are the ones who'll keep your friendship for no reasons, no conditions and no expectations. So, if we'll talk about real friends, I don't have much...but I have enough and I got the best ones.

What Makes You Beautiful

I am beautiful. You are beautiful. We are all beautiful.
We may not have Angelina Jolie's lips...or Heidi Klum's long legs...or the charming face of Katie Holmes. And for the guys, you may not look like Tom Cruise or Channing Tatum. But who cares? Nobody's perfect, anyway. So regardless of the imperfections that we have, WE MUST LOVE OURSELVES. I can imagine how God renders overtime work just to make each and everyone of us beautiful in our own unique ways.

And when you've finally learned to love and completely embrace yourself, don't overdo it. It is better to be loved for what's on the inside than what's on the outside. Physical prettiness may eventually fade away but your kindness and humbleness are your secret weapons to be forever loved by the people around you.

Tonight, I'm gonna leave you with Boyce Avenue's cover of What Makes You Beautiful. Ooooooops! To all One Direction fans out there, don't hate me 'cos I love the original one, too. I just love this version more. Enjoy!

Goddess Juno

Time flies so fast! It's June already and we're halfway through 2012. Aside from Father's Day, Independence Day and my lil bro's birthday (plus the start of rainy season here in the Philippines), the first thing that comes to my mind when June arrives is a "June Bride". I know that many of us are aware that a LOT of couples choose to marry in the month of June. Have you ever wondered why?

Here's a quick trivia:
The month of June was named after "Juno", the Roman goddess of marriage and queen of the Gods so some consider it as good luck to tie the knot in this month. (Source: The ever reliable Wikipedia)

Because it's Goddess Juno's Month once again (and our wedding is fast approaching), I'll post anything about our wedding inspirations from time to time starting today. For now, I'm gonna share some of the Wedding Gowns that I fell in love with.

I loooooove Jenny Packham.
These Wedding Gowns are just my inspirations so my "the one" will remain a super secret until our Big Day. Actually, it's a secret I'm keeping from myself, too. (hahaha!) I really haven't decided on what my gown would look like. So many pretty gowns....Just one wedding day! If I could get married more than once (of course to the same man), I would, just to wear all of these. But this is just once in a lifetime so I won't settle for a gown that's not really ME. It doesn't have to be branded or too expensive. It just has to be simple yet classy.

Small Space? No worries. Live Big!

Condominiums are becoming popular these days and since my fiancé and I want to stay here in Manila after our wedding, we actually took that into consideration. And after thorough discussions and deliberations, we've decided to give it a go! Yey! We're gonna have our own home sweet home. It's just a small unit, though. But it's the right size for starting couples like us. After all, small homes have big advantages, too: 1) Easy access to different areas of the house, 2) Less Cleaning Time = More Chillax and Bonding Time, and 3) A great excuse for family and friends who are fond of overnight stays and sleepovers (hahaha!) Just kidding! Of course, you'll all be welcome to our humble abode.

Ever since we came up with that decision, I never spend a day without googling for some space saving techniques and ideas on how to prettify our soon-to-be-home. Recently, I stumbled upon this video on Youtube and I can't help myself but share this simple and cuuuutey animation of how to have an illusion of a bigger room. So, for all you folks who want to make your room look bigger than its actual size, go ahead and click the Play button.

We'll be moving in our own space immediately after our wedding and that's in a few months. (I'm so excited....and I just can't hide it!) We can't wait to start our life together. It doesn't matter what type of house you have. You just have to make it a home where love and happiness have come to live.

It's More Fun In Pinas

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
EXPLORE. DREAM. DISCOVER.” -Mark Twain

I love to travel. I consider it as a reward to myself for working so hard and as an inspiration to work harder. It is important for me to have a break and detach myself from my daily routine once in a while so I do it through Travelling, an impeccable form of de-stressing and relaxation.

BORACAY ISLAND

TAGAYTAY

BAGUIO

Nothing beats our own land. Mountains. Falls. White Sand Beaches....and many more. It's, indeed, more fun in the Philippines.

VILLA ESCUDERO

LAIYA, BATANGAS

TARLAC (ISDAAN)
Behind us is what they call "Tacsiyapo Wall" | You can smash cups, plates or even a television against the wall to release your anger (Tacsiyapo means "Shame On You!")

Ken and I really love to travel but all our trips were either with our family or friends. Those trips made me realize that nothing bonds people (and makes the bond stronger) better than travelling. It creates memories that last for a lifetime. But one of the million things that Ken and I look forward to when we get married is.....We can finally travel without any chaperon!(hahaha) Super Yehey!!!!

PUERTO GALERA

VIGAN

LAOAG

PAGUDPUD

I've never been to even half of Pinas yet but that's definitely included in my dream list. I also admit that after seeing Macau and Hong Kong, I've been dreaming of going to other parts of the world, too. Discovering different cultures is one of the learning and fun experiences one could ever experience. But isn't it a great feeling if you've explored and discovered everything your own country has to offer before travelling all around the globe? Think about it.

FOR THE LOVE OF CHOCOLAT

"Life is like a box of chocolates...You never know what you're gonna get."  - Forrest Gump

Last month, Ken gave me 7 out of my long list of favorite chocolates for our 7th Anniversary. His sweetness really never fails.

Here are some fun facts and trivia about Chocolates:

The word Chocolate comes from the Aztec word "Xocolatl", which ironically       means, bitter water.

Chocolate in different languages:
Tagalog:      Tsokolate
English:       Chocolate
French:        Chocolat
Dutch:         Chocolade
Finnish:       Suklaa
Italian:        Cioccolato
Swedish:      Choklad
Indonesian:  Coklat
Polish:         Czekolada
German:       Schokolade
Latin:           Scelerisque

Chocolate is a great natural antidepressant. It contains Tryptophan which helps create Serotonin, our body's own antidepressant.

Contrary to popular belief, chocolate does NOT contribute to acne.

Dark chocolate has more antioxidants than green tea and just as many as blueberries.

Chocolate is poisonous to dogs (and other domestic animals). The Theobromine found in chocolate is a stimulant, and can be too much for small animals.

Chocolate contains high-quality antioxidants that can protect us from developing cancer and heart disease.

Chocolate is rich in magnesium and iron, which our body needs.

Chocolate is a valuable energy source. One chip of chocolate can provide enough energy for an adult human to walk 150 feet.

More than twice as many women than men eat and crave chocolate.

Let's all have a chocolateeeeeey weekend!
(A Friendly Reminder: Indulge Moderately)

I'D LIKE YOU TO MEET MR. KEN VILLAFLOR

My Best Friend. My Number 1 Fan (hahaha!). My Ultimate Energy Booster.
My Kamalditahan-and-Topak-Absorber. My Favorite Travel Buddy.
My Soon-to-be-Husband.

He has been my Honey Bunchey for 7 gorgeous years (We've known each other since we were in High School). He proposed to me last year over a romantic dinner in Baguio City and in a few months, he'll be sharing his last name with me.

It's now sinking in. I'm....getting....married.
WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!

We're both just 24 years of age but I really don't consider it as too young to get married. Age is just a number. I don't intend to sound like an expert here but in my honest opinion, what matters most in Marriage is Maturity: the readiness, willingness and ability to take responsibility of your other half's life. So the question is not "How old are you?" but "Are you mature enough?" I'll answer that with a resounding "Yes, I am!" (and I know he is, too).

Ken and I have been praying for our wedding and most especially for our marriage since last year. And with God as the only "third party" in our relationship, we know that we can never go wrong. I admit that there were bumps and there will be mooooore bumps and humps along the way but we are sooooo ready. So....Bring It On! :)

BLAST FROM THE PAST: Macau & Hong Kong Trip

It's been 3 years since I graduated from College.
I'm a Broadcast Communication graduate from Polytechnic University of the Philippines and yes peeps (with that long-maroon-with-round-bronze-thingy around my neck), I graduated with flying colors. They say that in surviving through the College jungle as a Cum Laude, one must be matalino or masipag or both. As for me, I think I'm just masipag. (hahaha!) Anyway, that is not exactly what this post is about. It was just the reason behind my Macau and Hong Kong Trip, an all-expense-paid vacation with my big sissy, Ate Rollaine, as her pre-graduation gift for me.

The trip was so last November 2008. I know. But I just want to share my memories in these 2 special administrative regions of China.

MACAU
As the "Montecarlo of the Orient" and "Las Vegas of the East", its economy relies on gambling...but there's more to Macau than its casinos and I can attest to that. Here are some of the tourist spots that we've been to and you should go to if you're planning to visit Macau in the near future.

RUINS OF ST. PAUL'S
It was my first time to meet my Ate's office mate, Ate Ana and her friends but look at us, it was like we've known each other for ages.
SENADO SQUARE
A public square in Macau paved with gorgeous wave-patterned montage of stones

Queuing at the Money Changer??
FYI: The currency in Macau is Pataca
THE VENETIAN
A Hotel-Casino resort with an Oooooh-Mmmmy-Gooooosh-Architecture

FISHERMAN'S WHARF
It's the first theme park in Macau and the best part is....Admission is F-R-E-E. :)

HONG KONG
Look closely. See? I have a bank in Hong Kong. Ha! :)
(B)ank of (E)ast (A)sia

Hong Kong is just a 1-hour-TurboJET-ride from Macau. We were there for a day (or even less) and we spent it in.....(drum roll pleeeeease).....DISNEY LAND!

When I saw the Disney Train, I was so excited that my whole body was trembling. SERIOUSLY!!
(Shaky Hands + I hid them in my pockets = Jologs Pose hahaha)
At that moment, I felt like I was the happiest kid in the happiest place on earth.

"A whole new world. A dazzling place I never knew. But when I'm way up here. It's crystal clear. That now I'm in a whole new world with you."
LSS FOR A MONTH

We weren't able to explore Hong Kong so I promise myself that I'll be back....with a vengeance. :)
