Anniversary Lunch Date at Revolving Restaurant

We decided to celebrate our first wedding anniversary by having a simple Lunch Date. Though we didn't really plan exuberantly for this day, of course, we still wanted it to be different and special. So a few weeks before our anniversary, we started to look for the perfect place that would comply with our three little requirements: 1.) Good Food 2.) Pleasant ambiance 3.) Uncrowded Area. Good thing, a friend recommended this unique and lovely resto in the Metro.
I was completely blown away by its ambiance when we stepped inside the restaurant. It was like Love at First Sight! Having your lunch with an awesome backdrop is definitely a romantic setup. But I was just using my phone when we took these photos so these won't really give justice to the real feel of the place.

We ordered Charcoal Grilled Baby Back Ribs and A la Creme with Mushroom and Truffle and I must say, we did a good job in ordering the right ones. Delish food!! But here's a heads up for you especially if you're kuripot kids like us. You might find yourself having small gulps once you've seen the bill but it will definitely be worth every cent especially for special occasions like this.
Chef Jessie's 100 Revolving Restaurant is a 360° revolving, fine dining restaurant in the Philippines. It is located  at the 33rd floor of Mercury Drug Corporate (MDC) Building, Eastwood, Libis. The revolving part of the restaurant is the carpeted area and it will take more or less 2 hours to complete one revolution. You may also choose to sit on the non-revolving part which is at the center.

We weren't able to call beforehand to place a reservation but they were super duper sweet to give us some complimentary sweets when they learned that it was our anniversary. Many thanks to the great staff of 100 Revolving Restaurant for making our first a very memorable one.

Our First Year

Looking back to the first twelve months of our married life, we couldn't help but be amazed at how we were able to survive our bittersweet first year. It wasn't a smooth one and not even close to that. We've had our ups and downs which tested our faith to stand by our vows. Like any other couples, we encountered a lot of trials but never did we let these trials break us. Instead, we choose to become stronger and better husband and wife. That, for us, is a validation that God is, indeed, in the center of our marriage. And now we can say that we're prepped up to face more challenges ahead.

Thank you so much to everyone who extended their well wishes and celebrated with us. Next year ulet ha? hehehe. :)

Love,
The Villaflors

Pray For The Philippines

Watching the news since the Super Typhoon Yolanda slammed the Philippines has been heartbreaking and it's becoming more and more heartbreaking day by day. But on a positive note, it's really overwhelming to know that many Filipinos and even other nationalities are eager to help our countrymen in their own ways; proof that the spirit of Bayanihan already became worldwide.

I've also been keeping my eye on the Social Media as well these past few days which became an instrument to disseminate different means to help and to inspire everyone to be of help. So what's really the point of this blogpost, if you may ask? Well, I'm not going to dictate what one can do in this time of tragedy but I just want to give you a friendly reminder. There is no doubt that everyone has a heart to give a helping hand but let us just remember that our good deeds should be motivated by a SINCERE desire to help our brothers and sisters who are in need.
The Social Media, indeed, has been a powerful tool but let us also be responsible netizens. Instead of sharing malicious information from unverified sources or taking advantage of the situation for public recognition, let's just offer what we can do to help sincerely and wholeheartedly. And most importantly, PRAY. It really works.

#PrayForBohol

If you've been reading my blog, you're probably aware that my husband and I had our honeymoon in Bohol 6 months ago. We were able to explore and enjoy its beauty so it's really heartbreaking to look at the After-the-Earthquake photos of a place close to our hearts. After hearing the sad news, I couldn't help but revisit my blog posts of our Bohol adventure and reminisce our beautiful memories of this Visayan gem.

Let us continue to pray for Bohol and the rest of Central Visayas and Mindanao.
God bless us all.

Enchantingly EKciting!

I've been to Enchanted Kingdom for the nth time so I pretty much have an idea of what to look forward to: GUARANTEED FUN FUN FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. And even though I expect some body cramps after hours of walking around and ride-hopping and irita tendencies because of the scorching heat of the sun, none of that stopped us from bringing the partey partey to EK for my niece's birthday two weeks ago.

The newest additions to its rides and attractions are EKstreme Tower Ride and Disk-O-Magic. I'm actually not adventurous when it comes to theme park rides but after hours of contemplation, I was able to convince myself to try EKstreme. BUT BUT BUT while on our way, they announced that they will be closing the park in a few minutes. We didn't notice that it was nearly 9PM. Haaaay! Sayaaaang!! (BUTI NA LANG!) Hehehehe!

But wait, there's moooooore!!! In celebration of its 18th Anniversary, Enchanted Kingdom offers a couple of exciting promos. One of those is their Birthday Promo. Now, you can celebrate your special day at EK for FREE. Yep! You read it right. FREE!!! Sounds music to your kuripot ears, eh? hehehe! Just present a valid proof of your actual birth date and they will give you a special wristband that entitles you to have free entrance, discounts and aside from that, you can also enjoy countless birthday greetings from their staff as you roam around the park. My niece was actually amazed that almost everyone knew it was her birthday. Oh diba, celebrity status for a day! How cool is that? :)

Fruit of the Day (FOTD): Rambutan

This is probably one of the randomest ideas I had in my entire blogging adventure. Out of the many pressing issues we have in our society, I decided to talk about....dandadadan...fruits. Yeah, Yeah. I, too, was like "What the F?" As in..."What the Fruit???" hihihi! Sorry guys but I also want you to be involved in my healthy living campaign. Since the Rambutan season here in the Philippines is not over yet, this is my very first FOTD post.
THROWBACK: Photos above were taken 3 years ago
Let me give you a brief intro first. I was born and raised in Manila so I never really had a province where I can take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Yep, I was that little girl in school where the getting-to-know-stage always went something like this: "San province nyo?" "Ay, wala eh." -End of conversation- So when I got married, it's really a bonus that my husband was born in Tiaong, Quezon where his parents currently live. It was like I wanted to gather all my former classmates for a press conference--"I have an announcement to make. MAY PROBINSYA NA KOOOO!!! Tara, usap tayo!!" hehehe. And the best part is...their home is surrounded by a looooooot of fruit-bearing trees. So now I'm entitled for short and sweet weekend vacations whenever we visit my in-laws. It's really a refreshing treat when you wake up and step outside the door and all you see are trees---in the backyard, in the frontyard, in the -err- sideyard (If there's such a thing!) We were there a few days ago. Here are some camera phone photos as we enjoyed an early morning date with nature.

Rambutan is a tropical fruit rich in water, protein, fiber and Vitamin C. It is said to be widely found in Southeast Asia. And here's a little trivia: Did you know that Rambutan came from the Malay word "Rambut" which means hairy? It's obviously pertaining to the spiky appearance of the fruit which some may find a little weird. Kayo naman, don't judge a book by its cover. It's not a book. It's a fruit! wenk. wenk. wenk. My 3-year-old niece even calls it cockroach but we both share the love for this sweet and juicy fruit. But there's a part that I really despise: The "Pre-Munch" stage. Peeling it somewhat requires a bit of effort but if you have a husband who lovingly tolerates your laziness, Congratulations! You're a one lucky wife! hehehe :)

The Necklace Cheat Sheet

Before I step out of our home, I always have a titigan moment with our mirror first because of my fear of looking overly dressed/accessorized. As one fashion cliché goes: Accessories can either make or break any outfit. But with proper balance and technique, even a simple necklace will definitely complete the wow factor of your whole ensemble.

Note: While it is good to have some style tips sometimes, let us also not forget that fashion really doesn't have a set of rules. The most important factor of looking your best is feeling comfortable enough with whatever you are wearing. So work it, girl! :)

Happy Birthday, Brothah and Sistah!

Yo ma men!! Sup?? How are ya, niggaaaah??? Okay, please excuse this awkwardness! I just need to stick to my gangstah kind of day, ya know! Hahaha. Anyway, there's a double celebration in our family whenever the 8th month of the year comes. But before I share with you how we celebrated it this year, let's have a little intro about the birthday guy and gal first.

My Brothah From Anotha Motha (August 3)
I'm the second from a brood of 4 and I'm very lucky to have the best eldest sister (Ate) and siblings in the world. But I have always dreamed of having an elder brother (Kuya), too. When I was in gradeschool, I classified my classmates with older brothers as cool kids. Ang astig kaya pag may Kuya, diba? And up to this day, I still have this huge admiration for brothers who take good care of their younger sibs. Good thing, I married a man who I can also consider my Kuya. Even though I'm 5 months older than him (Yes! I'm older than him. You may stop chuckling now.), he's much much much mature than me when it comes to how to live life. It's probably because he learned how to be independent at such a young age. His optimism and kengkoyness attested that there is really a beautiful and happy reason behind everything, even in the toughest scenario. And now I know how it feels to have a Kuya who lovingly gives you an Everything-will-be-alright-belief and an Ako-bahala-sa'yo-feeling.

My Fashionistah Sistah (August 8)
Nope. She's not a fashion model (yet!) but she surely will pass as one. I often wonder how on earth her choice of apparel, even a weird one, turns out to be "fashionmodelish" on her. Any girl who loves fashion (but fashion still doesn't find its way to loving her) will get envious when she takes a walk with another #ootd-worthy look. I had many attempts to try her wardrobe style but it just made me look like one helluva frustrated fashionistah so in the end, whether I like it or not, I'm back to my usual pants-tshirt combo. Haaay! Life. is. indeed. unfair. Hahaha! So if you bump into me with my sistah at a mall or somewhere else, let me tell you this now...I'm not her PA, okay??? Ate po niya ako!!! ATE!!!!! Hehehe.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR BROTHAH AND SISTAH!!

On The Spot: ICEPOT

My folks were actually the discoverers of this Korean dessert stall in a little corner of SM Sta. Mesa's Foodcourt. My mom, in particular, has been giving Icepot some spotlight for days and keeps on telling everyone about it. So after doing the groceries one night, we finally tried these delish treats. I got to taste all of what we ordered and they were all YUMMERS!!!! But my personal favorites are the Blueberry Waffle and Icecream with mixed fruits.

I know it's such a shame that my previous post hashed out my Pinoy pride because of Gilas Pilipinas and now I'm raving about these Korean sweets. Please forgive me, my dear Noypis. Hehehe! Our very own Halohalo is STILL THE BEST but this is just too deliciously healthy not to blog about.

I'm not a Basketball fanatic but this one's a different story.
Congratulations, Gilas Pilipinas!
